THE GOAL 250 SHAVEDOWNS IN SIX HOURS!

ABOUT THE EVENT

Every year, 9000 men in Sweden are diagnosed with prostate cancer, a disease which is unfortunately very scamed among men and, moreover, talked about.

We want to raise awareness about the disease and, together with the Movember Foundation, will arrange an event at Clarion Hotel Malmö Live with the aim of putting a world record in the number of shave downs, 250 in six hours. In connection with the event, the goal is to collect 350,000 SEK together with visitor, sponsors and exhibitors, which goes unchanged to Movember Foundation and the continued research on prostate cancer.

WHERE: CLARION HOTEL MALMÖ LIVE

 

We will the 1st of November set a world record on number of shave downs using 12 barbers from The Barber. Twelve chairs will be lined up at Clarion Hotel Malmo Lives bar called Living Room, which is an open space for people to swing by to be a part of the happening. From 2PM - 8PM, 250 men will get a shave down to start growing their Movember staches throughout November. The shave downs are for free but each individual may donate an amount of choice to Movember Foundation. In the barber chairs you find locals, Swedish celebrities and sports icons from e.g. Malmo Redhawks. The opening ceremony at 2PM will be held by the MMA fighter 'The Mauler’ and throughout the day Cornelius Löfmark will guide and update you.

During the event sponsors have bought an event space to contribute to great happenings during the day. The main focus of sponsors are local, trendy and male. Onsite Informationsteknik will arrange live updates on screens to follow the financial donations and number of shave downs to set the world record. The spectators can grab a drink, get a tattoo by Zoi Tattoo, indulge in men’s fashion or why not sign up for a membership-card with a local fitness center with a nice discount. Motion Studio will bring doctors to the event that will do PSA-tests on 200 persons. 

After the world record is official we will celebrate together with Rickard Söderberg in Living Room. We will also listen to Per-Anders Abdrahamsson, PhD and Proferssor within Urology.

Between 02.00 pm and 08.00 pm, 12 barbers from the Barber are lined up to beat the world record with you. The shave down is free, but you have the opportunity to make a donation to the Movember Foundation in the fight against prostate cancer. Book in advance to secure your spot.

Celebrate with us

When we have reach the goal of 250 shave downs and 350'000 SEK has been collected to the Movember Foundation we will celebrate together in the Living Room. We will dig deeper in the subject of urology together with world famous professor Per-Anders Abrahamsson, and offer spactacular show together with Rickard Söderberg.  Stay and mingle, and of course there will be great-cause beverages!

ABOUT PROSTATE CANCER

Every day approximately 25 men in Sweden get diagnosed with prostate cancer. This number makes prostate cancer the most common cancer form in Sweden. Prostate cancer begins when cells in the prostate gland start to grow uncontrollably. The prostate is a gland found only in males. It makes some of the fluid that is part of semen.

Today most men survive the cancer, however the treatment often affect sexual function which might lead to mental stress. Many men are affected and unfortunately feel ashamed to talk about their experiences. This is why awareness needs to be raised.

Since 2003 Movember Foundation has globally funded 1200 projects focusing on men’s health, prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. The foundation expertise on what works for men and how to find and fund the most innovation research to have both a global and local impact.
